This is how I felt shortly after embarking on a spontaneous and ill-conceived adventure with friends.
Little happens on the road and, even less is spoken. The random clicks from my camera breaks the claustrophobic silence as we drive West along endless highway. With the furtive impulse of a shoplifter, I shoot on the fly without a plan. Available light, a scarce commodity, on the road, at night, I use what I find from the steady glare of taillights to a motel table lamp.
Out of step and out of place, my hand held camera is my confidant and closest travel companion.
